Our Love Story

One hot evening in July of last year, the Provo YSA (young single adult) 9th ward of the Church had an outdoor devotional by the duck pond. There was an impressive musical number, a dynamic and thoughtful speaker, and to top it off, milk and cookies served as refreshments.

It was towards the end of the activity that Adam spotted a girl shamelessly chugging a glass of milk--an activity in recent days that he was also known to do. His interest was sparked, and he decided to talk to her.

"Do you like milk?"

She lowered her red solo cup. "Um yeah?"

"I can tell." His gesture toward his upper lip hinted at the milk 'stache that remained on her face.

With red creeping up her cheeks, Ryen quickly moved to wipe the milk away and, luckily for Adam, she laughed. They talked about dairy for the rest of the activity before parting ways.

A couple of weeks later Adam walked Ryen home from church and asked her out to play pickleball, not knowing she had very little enthusiasm for the sport. Luckily for Adam, she said yes.

And she kept saying yes, especially when she found out they had the same birthday, that both of their families enjoyed performing Christmas music for friends and family, and that everything she used to enjoy on her own she enjoyed even more with Adam.

They found themselves in front of the Washington D.C. temple on March 20th, with Adam on one knee asking to marry her. And luckily for them both, Ryen was delighted to say yes once again.
